pUNKapalooza 2012

Another year, another pUNKapalooza (poster)! Just finished this one up for the annual bash held over the course of an entire day and split between Moondogs and Starlite Lounge in Blawnox. The music literally never stops!!! The guy you’re looking at on the poster is the man that puts this all together, Punk, and since this year happens to fall on Saint Patty’s day, I went with the vibrant green color. If you’re not doing anything on Saturday, March 17th, you should check it out. You won’t regret it!!!!!

2011 Holiday Card

Here’s the personal greeting card I designed and sent out to family and friends this year. Focusing on type, “Happy Holidays” & “2011″ was adapted from the lettering I created for Trish’s Pretzels. For the other messages, I used the font Ostrich supplied by the good folks over at The League of Movable Type. I created a couple of pictorial embellishments to finish it off and voila!

Trish’s Chocolate Covered Pretzels

The first year my fiancee received a GIANT TUB of pretzels as part of his xmas gift from work, we weren’t quite sure what to do with them. Neither of us really like pretzels much. However, I hate to waste anything and decided to give chocolate covered pretzel making a try. Though pretty messy, it’s actually a relatively easy process and it turns out people love them! Since then, I’ve eagerly awaited that tub of yummy every year! This year, I decided to try something new with the packaging, foregoing the usual xmas tins for brown paper bags with festive ribbon and labels. I created the lettering especially for this project along with the swoosh-y frame & doodads to give it that personal touch!

The Story Teller

Here’s a recent digital illustration I completed that falls into the category of self promotion/just for fun! The art is inspired by the song “Terrapin Station” performed by the Grateful Dead. It focuses on the beginning of the song where a man recounts the story a beautiful women who would have two men battle for her affection. I wanted it to have an intimate feel, like the story teller is talking directly to the viewer and I love how bright the foreground feels against the dark of the night!

Terra Place Cafe, Gifts and Wellness Center

I’ve been stopping into this wonderful little shop, formerly Spring Tides, to buy candles, incense, jewelry, lotions and other cool items for the last couple of years. I was thrilled when the owners asked me to help with the design of some materials for the new direction of their business. With the success of their amazing hand poured soy candles, terra essential scents, the new imagining of the store, Terra Place Cafe, Gifts and Wellness center, was conceived. The grand opening is October 15 and the 22 and there’s going to be lots of fun things going on! Info is posted at www.terra-place.com and a new website is coming soon!
